Tipsters who contact Crime Stoppers are given a unique ID which is how we identify them. Regardless of the method of contact, we are able to communicate back to the tipster to ask clarifying questions that law enforcement may want to ask to further develop the tip. For phoned in tips we rely on the tipster to contact the call center to know if a message has been posted for them by us. Clarifying questions received by internet and texting go through the call center software directly to the tipster. Calls are answered at the Crime Stoppers call center 24/7 and in all cases the two way dialog keeps the tipster’s identity anonymous. The call center uses a translation service to accommodate calls of many foreign languages. The call center will electronically transfer the tip to Crime Stoppers of Minnesota and we in turn transfer the tip to your designated persons.
